Sunset Park - Mallee Roller
Measuring 5 feet high and 12 feet wide, the Mallee Roller was a large piece of machinery which cleared land. Pulled by a bullock team, a man would ride his horse behind the bullocks and crack his whip.
The piece of machinery pictured below can be found at Sunset Park and was originally owned and driven by Tom Hobbs of Merino, from 1920 to 1926. Hobbs worked in the Carapunga and Nullawil area, before giving the roller to the Noonan family and the bullocks to Jack Glen. The Noonan family later donated this historic item to the Birchip Historical Society who have stored it at Sunset Park.
