Birchip Connect
The saying “As fit as a Mallee Bull” is universally accepted as embodying the characteristics of strength, determination and resilience which is synonymous with the Birchip Community. In recent years, population decline and ‘brain drain’ has become an issue for many rural communities, yet Birchip has continued to “Buck the trend”.
Birchip Connect is an initiative which aims to build on this success; to link people and organisations together to encourage communication, foster mutually beneficial relationships and to nurture and celebrate achievements.
Our flourishing Birchip community offers strong local and global connections, and Birchip Connect creates a central hub for locals to access and build on these relationships.
A biennial function is organised in a range of locations to bring past and present community members and their friends together to expand their networks. In the alternate years, a Career Information Day is held at the Birchip P-12 School with ex-students presenting to current students, to share their inspirational career journeys and life stories.
The Birchip Connect team also facilitates an excellent mentor program and a scholarship program.
The scholarship Fund
Our wonderful town benefits from the generosity of the community and its current and past residents. The Birchip Connect program has the capacity to accept Tax Deductible gifts to help students and to preserve and develop the services and facilities in the community.
You can support Birchip Connect through the Scholarship Fund Program by making an annual, weekly or one-off donation, or through a bequest.
The Birchip P-12 School Scholarship Fund (with DGR Status) is administered by Birchip P-12 School Council. Contact Russell Christie at the Birchip P-12 School 5492 2287
If it is the broader Birchip community you would like to support, you can contribute to the Birchip Trust Account (Tax Concession Charity status) locally administered by the Birchip Neighbourhood House Committee of Management. Contact Simone Christie at the Birchip Neighbourhood House 0429 922735.
